Artemis Technologies, the world-leading high-performance maritime technology company, welcomed Defence Minister, Baroness Goldie on Thursday, October 5th, 2023, to showcase their latest advancements in sustainable maritime transportation, and discuss the continued opportunities for green maritime jobs in Northern Ireland, as the company continues its rapid expansion.

During her visit, Baroness Goldie witnessed first-hand the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and experienced its Artemis eFoiler® technology aboard Pioneer of Belfast, the world’s first fully electric foiling commercial workboat.

Dr Iain Percy OBE, CEO of Artemis Technologies commented:

We were honoured to welcome Baroness Goldie to Artemis Technologies and provide an insight into how UK research & innovation funding is helping us to develop a world leading clean maritime technology cluster.

In order to meet our climate change goals, all sectors need to play their part, and we support the Ministry of Defence’s ambitious commitment to create a green Royal Navy fleet and strive towards decarbonisation by 2050.

Through supporting research within the UK, and working closely with industry and academia, they are finding new innovative solutions to green their fleet and help meet the UK’s wider 2050 Net Zero target.

Artemis eFoiler® technology uses hydrofoils to lift the boat’s hull out of the water, significantly reducing drag and increasing efficiency. Artemis eFoiler® propelled vessels present a critical avenue for governments to fulfil their decarbonisation goals. By harnessing cutting-edge technologies, these vessels substantially curtail greenhouse gas emissions, thereby contributing to the broader reduction of the sector’s environmental impact.

Defence Minister Baroness Goldie said:

“I was delighted to have the opportunity to visit Artemis today. It has been fascinating to see the cutting-edge technology which they are using, and how they are contributing to the maritime industry in Northern Ireland. It was particularly good to see a demonstration of technology being used to develop vessels which cut carbon emissions and makes them greener and more efficient.”

Artemis Technologies currently provides sustainable maritime transport solutions applying its transformative eFoiler® technology across three sectors: WorkboatsSmart Mobility and Patrol. Within the last year Artemis Technologies has unveiled a variety of new vessel designs such as the Artemis EF-24 Passenger, Artemis EF-20H Patrol, and Artemis EF-12 Pilot.
